Happy new year and I hope everyone enjoyed some time off over the last few weeks.
It’s that time of the year as we gear up for 2023 and to do it all again. Hopefully, with a little less rain and COVID, we can get a full season of footy in this year.
Here is everything you need to know to get you ready for the season ahead. There are a few of deadlines for Registration, Kit Orders & Events coming up in the next few weeks. As always if you are having any issues with cash flow and cannot make some of the payments, please reach out to me, Harry or Geri to make alternate arrangements.
MASTERS 100

Join your fellow Masters as we celebrate our 100th Game. Come along as we step back and remember the highlights, milestones and events that make the Balmain Masters one of the biggest and best AFL Masters Clubs in Australia.
Current and past players are welcome on the night. It doesn’t matter if you have played 1 game or 96 games, every Master can join the celebration. Partners are more than welcome.
Only 100 Tickets available. All who pay by the 1st February receive a commemorative gift to mark the occasion.

THE BALMAIN AFC 100TH MATCH – INTRACLUB

Occurring earlier in the afternoon is of course our 100th Match. An intraclub where all Past and Present Balmain AFC Masters players are welcome. There is no better way to get back on the field then this in 2023.
When: Saturday 11th February (Afternoon – Start time TBC)
Where: HJ Mahoney Reserve, Marrickville (TBC)
Who: All Current & Former Balmain AFC Masters Players are welcome
How much: Its Free! Don’t forget to purchase your Masters 100 Game Celebration Ticket for the evening event.
2023 REGISTRATION

Make sure you register by the 1st of February to secure your playing number in 2023 and to ensure you receive your personalised training kit. We need to have our kit order in by early February to ensure supply before the start of the season.
New members can purchase their playing kit at the same time. Returning members can also purchase any replacement kit (playing top or shorts). Socks remain complimentary for new or returning players.
• $275 Masters Player Membership – Full membership to the club
• $150 Associate Membership – select this option if only want to play the social games and not the Sydney AFL Masters Competition games.
Membership Package: AFL & NSW Masters affiliation fees; Player insurance (Bronze); Complimentary food at season launch & end of year events; 2023 Training Top; Warm-Up Top for new players; Stubbie Holder; Members Sticker.
The first game of the Sydney AFL Masters competition will commence on the 15th of April. We will have plenty of other social, scratch match, 50s and carnival games also throughout the year.

WOMENS MASTERS

In a joint partnership between Balmain AFC and the Newtown Breakaways, we will see Women’s AFL Masters take the field for more regular social games in 2023. If you know anyone who is interested, please share the link above. ONLY $95 to join!
With already 31 members, it is looking like a cracking first season for the Women’s Masters!
KICKSTARTER RETURNS
Back for 2023 is our Sunday Morning Kickstarter Sessions. Starting Sunday the 22nd January
There is no better way for new Masters or to get moving again in 2023. Skills and drills led by club legend Tony “The Gorilla” Nettleton.
Will occur most Sundays during preseason when no games are scheduled on a Saturday.
Sundays from 9am, Mort Bay Park, Balmain. Check TeamApp for schedule updates.
PRESEASON TRAINING
Don’t forget that Preseason training is back too …. Time to get off the couch and back onto the track!
Every Tuesday 6.15pm at Balmain Road Sports Ground, Lilyfield
Every Thursday 6.15pm at Algie Park, Haberfield
In season training on Thursday Nights at Glover Street, Lilyfield, returns from the start of April
2023 AFL MASTERS NATIONAL CARNIVAL
A rare opportunity to represent NSW at the 2023 AFL Masters National Carnival. NSW Teams are open to all Masters players from 35 to 60+ years. 6 Tigers played in the 2022 Masters National campaign!

When: 1st-7th October 2023 -Match Fixtures TBC
Where: Sunshine Coast, Queensland
How Much: 2022 costs were $540 (Registration) + Added costs for Playing Kit and Merchandise. Expect similar in 2023
Who: All Masters Players Welcome. Age groups across 35+ years
